Mr. Ernst Serfontein has dedicated his life to provide outstanding legal service. He is regarded as an expert in commercial drafting and in general matters relating to contractual and company law. Mr. Serfontein is considered an authority when it comes to Sectional Title related matters as he has been intimately involved in all aspects relating thereto since 1991. He also serves on the panel of arbitrators at the Deeds Office in Pretoria for Sectional Title related disputes. He has been an Executive Committee Member of the Pretoria Attorneys Association and has served the Community as a Commissioner in the Court for Small Claims in Pretoria for several years.

Mr Serfontein has vast experience in providing advice and drafting of documents relating to business transactions such as the sale of businesses, sale of shares, reconstructing of companies for BEE purposes, etc. With four decades of experience in all fields of Civil Law, he can be considered one of Pretoria’s most accomplished and established lawyers.

After completing his LLB degree through the North West University, Potchefstroom Campus, Dian commenced his articles with EWS where he is currently practicing as an Attorney and head of our litigation department. Dian has a keen interest in commercial matters and is vastly experienced in general litigation including property disputes, evictions, sectional titles, corporate matters and family law. Dian has right of appearance in the High Court of South Africa and has completed short courses and seminars on inter alia the National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act, Prevention of Illegal Eviction and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act and the Companies Act.

Dian fulfills the role as Director along with Mr. Ernst Serfontein, expanding on his already vast knowledge of South African legal system, providing EWS clients impeccable legal expertise.

Ruben is an accomplished attorney and currently runs the Collections and Family Law departments at EWS, while providing healthy acumen into Sectional Title-related matters. Known for his strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail, Ruben has successfully represented clients ranging from samosa hawkers to affluent corporate entities. Ruben is a graduate of North West University’s Potchefstroom Campus, and joined the EWS team as an associate at the start of the 2020 pandemic. He is also the chairperson of the trustees at the housing estate where he resides. Ruben takes pride in adding value and delivering desirable results with every matter under his care.

André obtained his LLB degree from North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, where he cultivated a strong interest in litigation and the principles underlying the rule of law. He commenced his articles in 2023, during which he gained extensive experience across various fields of practice within the South African courts.

In 2025, André joined the EWS team as a key member of the General Litigation Department. He is actively engaged in matters before the High Court, Magistrates’ Court, and a range of other forums and tribunals. His practice covers a broad spectrum of areas, including debt recovery, property disputes, contractual matters, and family law, among others.
André’s dedication to upholding the rule of law, combined with his meticulous and thorough approach to litigation, renders him an invaluable asset to both his clients and the firm.

Chanté is a Junior Associate who brings a strong academic foundation and a steady, thoughtful approach to her developing legal practice. She completed both her LLB and LLM at the University of the Western Cape, where she cultivated a deep interest in research, legal interpretation, and structured analytical work. In her role, she contributes to drafting, file management, and matter preparation under the guidance of senior practitioners, while steadily building her own professional competencies.

Yolanda Pretorius graduated with an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in 2011 and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in 2012. She was admitted as a Conveyancer in 2014 and has since gained extensive experience in all aspects of conveyancing. Yolanda is dedicated to providing efficient, client-focused service and expertly handles a wide range of property transactions with professionalism and care.

[ROUGH DRAFT] Simone Grobler holds her registration as a Property Practitioner and brings a passionate commitment to the South African real-estate sector, with a particular focus on the Pretoria-East neighbourhoods of Garsfontein, Faerie Glen, Pretorius Park and Equestria. She began her career in 2022, swiftly developing a strong foundation in property sales and rentals, and building a reputation for attentive client service and market-insightful advice. In 2024 Simone joined the team at EWS as a key associate in our Conveyancing & Property department, where she is active in both residential and investment-property transfers.
