A Further Interest Rate Cut by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB)

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has reduced the repo rate by another 25 basis points as of 1 August 2025, bringing the Repo Rate down to 7.00%. 

The decrease in the Repo Rate and the Prime Lending Rate (now 10.50%) will have a direct and positive impact on homeowners repaying bonds, particularly those with variable-rate home loans. Homeowners with prime-linked bonds will see modest but meaningful relief on their monthly repayments, easing financial pressure and potentially stimulating property market confidence.
